Cellist-to-Cellist Interview Available Online
Alisa was interviewed by Berliner Philharmoniker Principal Cellist Ludwig Quandt on the Berlin Philharmonie stage in April. This interview aired during the intermission of the Digital Concert Hall live webcast of her debut concert with the Orchestra and Daniel Barenboim on April 27. This interview is now available to view online. Coincidentally, both Alisa and Ludwig have featured on the cover of Strings Magazine in recent months.
Alisa Weilerstein's performance with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Daniel Barenboim of Elgar's Cello Concerto available to view at medici.tv On May 1st at the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, England Alisa was the soloist for the Berliner Philharmoniker's annual Europa Konzert conducted by Daniel Barenboim. Described as a "life-changing" by The Observer, the concert was televised live to Germany, France, Sweden, Spain, China, Japan and will be broadcast on BBC (date tbc). Alisa Weilerstein to make her Los Angeles Philharmonic Debut with Gustavo Dudamel May 7
Alisa Weilerstein will make her debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and music director Gustavo Dudamel on Thursday, May 6 at 8:00 p.m. performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto. The program will be repeated on Friday, May 7 at 11:00 a.m. and Saturday, May 8 at 8:00 p.m. These concerts will also mark Ms. Weilerstein’s Walt Disney Concert Hall debut.
In December 2009 Ms. Weilerstein and Gustavo Dudamel performed this concerto together with the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra on a tour of Venezuela. You can view one of these performances on You Tube
Alisa Weilerstein appointed Celebrity Advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
A type 1 diabetic since age nine, Alisa is very excited to connect with children and families coping with type 1 diabetes. She will also spread awareness about the importance of research and the wonderful work JDRF is doing to find a cure.
